This study examines the relationship between educational management practices and teachers’ job performance in public secondary schools in Delta State, Nigeria. Educational management practices constitute an important component of effective school administration because they provide the organisational structures through which human and material resources are planned, coordinated, supervised and utilised for the achievement of educational objectives. The study focuses on planning, organising, staffing, supervision, motivation and communication practices as dimensions of educational management, while teachers’ job performance is examined through lesson preparation, classroom instruction, classroom management, assessment practices, record keeping and participation in school activities. A correlational survey research design is proposed for the study. The target population comprises teachers in public secondary schools in Delta State, from which a representative sample will be selected through multistage sampling. Data will be collected using a researcherdeveloped instrument titled Educational Management Practices and Teachers’ Job Performance Questionnaire (EMPTJPQ). The instrument will be subjected to expert validation, while internal consistency will be established using Cronbach’s alpha. Data will be analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation and multiple regression to test the hypotheses at the 0.05 significance level. The study is expected to provide empirical evidence concerning the extent to which management practices are associated with teachers’ performance and to identify management areas requiring institutional strengthening. The findings will have implications for principals, education boards, policymakers and teacher-development programmes. The study contributes to the literature by examining educational management as a multidimensional construct within the context of public secondary schools in Delta State.
